Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Our own servers do not retain a copy of those search entries. If you contact us, we receive the contents of your message and use them to respond.
Information Collected Automatically
Hosting services may record routine server-log details such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. We use those details in aggregate to maintain the pages and understand general traffic. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How the Data Is Used
The purposes are limited to operating the reference, troubleshooting, measuring traffic, and improving its pages. Visitor lists are not sold, and individual user profiles are not built from this information.
Links Beyond Santa Monica Residents Directory
Pages may link to Los Angeles County and California records portals, Santa Monica Public Library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. The privacy policy of each outside service controls what happens after you leave these pages. Sponsored search results are supplied by a third party and follow that provider's practices.
Who May Process It
Hosting and technical-support providers may process the server logs described above. Analytics or advertising partners may receive automatic-use data where those services operate. Disclosure may also occur when valid legal process requires it; otherwise, the information is not disclosed.
Security and Retention
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for as long as the purposes described above require. No account system operates here, so this site does not hold a visitor password or personal profile.
Visitors Under 18
Santa Monica Residents Directory is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor may have sent information, contact us so it can be removed.
Your California Privacy Choices
For covered-business data, the California Consumer Privacy Act, Cal. Civ. Code §§1798.100 et seq., as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, can provide rights to know or access, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, subject to exemptions. Because this reference retains very little, a request generally involves checking the contact mailbox and relevant server logs. Use the Contact page to ask.
The California Delete Act creates a state data-broker deletion mechanism administered through the California Privacy Protection Agency; check its current implementation information before relying on a procedure or date. A broker deletion request does not change a public record held by California, Los Angeles County, or the City of Santa Monica. Records requests under the California Public Records Act, Government Code §§7920.000–7931.000, and corrections or removal requests belong with the creating custodian.
Safe at Home can provide a substitute mailing address and confidential mail forwarding for qualifying people at risk, but it does not erase every historical public record. Voter information is purpose-gated under Elections Code §2194 and 2 CCR §§19000–19013. Recorded-document redaction or removal requires a statute, a recorder process, or a court order.
Policy Updates
Changes will be posted on this page. Continued use after an update indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
